Matt brings over 15 years of experience in public accounting to our firm. He personally manages clients in all areas of taxation and provides assurance and attestation services to closely-held companies and non-profit organizations. He serves his clients in industries including both Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Rural Development multifamily housing projects, auto rental dealerships, insurance brokerage firms, restaurants, and several non-profit organizations. Matt has extensive experience in the areas of business combinations and corporate multi-state taxation. In addition, he has also participated as a discussion leader in several workshops for non-profit organizations.
Matt earned his Masters of Accountancy from The University of Mississippi. He is a licensed CPA in the State of Mississippi. His professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Matt is a former member of the Downtown Jackson Exchange Club, where he has served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. He currently serves on the Firm Administration & Development committee of the MSCPA. Matt is also a former instructor for the Becker CPA Review course.
Matt and his wife Melanie have lived in the Jackson area for over twenty five years and have two sons, Carson and Connor. He and his family attend Pinelake Church in Brandon, MS. When he’s not “crunching numbers”, he enjoys playing hockey, tennis and cycling.
1. Skate to within a reasonable shooting distance from the goal.
2. Position your body sideways to the net and in a normal passing stance – skates parallel, knees bent, back bent forward, stick extended, blade edge flat on the ice (or roller rink) and puck cradles in the center of the blade.
3. Raise the stick up and straight back until your bottom hand is at shoulder level.
4. Keep your bottom arm straight.
5. Shift your weight to the back foot.
6. Raise your eyes, and mark the desired target (an open edge of the goal, not an opponent’s helmet).
7. Bring the stick aggressively forward: Pull with your top hand, push with the bottom hand.
8. Transfer your weight to the front foot.
9. Strike the puck on its bottom edge.
10. Follow through the stick.
11. Adjust the blade to control its height.
